Looks like it will be quite wet from mid week for us Dave, you may get away with it though. Jean

We didn't get much rain Jean. It's been rather damp in the last 2 days though and very mild overnight. Not surprising with such a long feed of warm air from the tropical Atlantic.
Watch next week. Looks like some very warm air will return after a slightly cooler weekend. Given the source it may see the arrival of a few early migrants

Finally out of that warm run now. Cooler days ahead although not cold by any means, more a return to close to average. Still not much rain for the south really but with a fair amount of cloud we should get some reasonable mothing nights after tomorrow which may see a frost :)

Back to warmth then. The cooler spell last week produced virtually no rain and wasn't really cool compared to the average for April. Quite summery for the next week or so with rainfall restricted to some isolated thundery downpours. Nights should be more humid and milder so trapping is potentially very good and migrants a possibility ;)

Well April was an extraordinary month. Very dry and sunny and record-breakingly warm. It must be rare to have an April free of air frost. The previous warmest was 2007 but that had a few frosts.
Anyway, here comes the "plume" as we are jammed between low pressure out west and high pressure to the east. Could get rather hot and humid down here by Saturday but that leads to an increasing thunder risk. Trapping could be excellent though with migrants likely as winds originate from North Africa

We had lovely, thundery rain yesterday evening - it was a joy to see! Looks like more about for the next few days for us in the SW, we need it to swell our potatoes on the allotment :D Jean & Graham

A lot of OTT nonsense about heatwaves in the press over the last few days with several days of 29C expected

Anyway, the general pattern remains of an Atlantic westerly flow but with High Pressure dominating the south. This will mean some rain in the north-west again but down here it will be mainly dry again. Temperatures will be a little above average again in the south.

Although I (and Jean & Graham) were fortunate enough to get a load of thundery rain a while back, some places in East Anglia and the South East had virtually nothing and these places are heading into drought conditions after virtually no rain since February. Not much relief in sight at present

That one thunder shower was all we got Dave, we have been desperately dry down here with very cold, strong winds. The influence that this high has produced has all been from cold northerly direction. If the high would only move a bit & let in some warmer, damper air from the SW it would do us all a favour. :x Jean & Graham

Agreed. Even here, moist SW winds rise over the Downs and give us some dampness, although with a strong sun at this time of year, low cloud quickly burns off and it becomes humid and warm 8-)

Just mostly cloudy here Dave, very grey, no advantage to this high either for the solar panel. The most you can say for it is that we've been able to get on with painting & doing the washing with no panic that it is about to rain - but for the trees & shrubs it is becoming disasterous - can't water everything even though we still have winter rain in the many butts that we have. Rationing is the thing :? Jean & Graham
