A little surprised this morning when I went to empty the Rayburn, to find two Little Egrets roosting in a tree just over the garden wall in the nature reserve next door. The sight was straight out of a Chinese painting, white birds on black branches surrounded by a light mist in an early morning light. Stunning. Sadly they were as surprised as me and flew off before I could go grab my camera. I reckon that, as the tree branches overhang the garden, although not the actual branches they were roosting on, I can call this a garden tick......maybe?

Sounds as though that would have made a wonderful photo. Maybe they will come back. Arent they beautiful birds

Well, just come back from checking the sheep in time to see one egret circling the trees in the reserve. Not sure if it saw me but it flew off again Maybe they'll return when it's a bit darker.
