Robin, I would put no.1 down as Swammerdammia pyrella because of the chestnutty outer fringe area. No.3 I think is Gypsonoma dealbana. No.4 possibly Ancylis achetana, no. 5 Epinotia immundana :) Jean

I'd agree with pterodactyla for 2 and would also agree with dealbana for 3. 5 is actually Zeiraphera isertana. I'm still musing on 4, which looks interesting to me, but I really don't think it is right for achatana.

#4 is either a dark Spiloneta ocellana or, more probably but a rarer beast, S. laricana

Hi Mike,

Thanks for that. I have had S. laricana here before (we have 3 large Larch trees at the end of the garden) but it was altogether paler and greyer. But now you have pointed it out I can see the simarlarity.
