Would be grateful if anyone could confirm (or otherwise) this as Apotomis sororculana.

I'm afraid it doesn't look like sororculana to me as I don't really think it has a dark apex and cilia. I should point out though that it isn't a species I know. I could be wrong, but I'd have thought it is within the variation of A. betuletana.

Hi Ian

Many thanks. A. betuletana was the alternative. I've had betuletana a couple of times in the past from other sites so should have got it, but didn't take into account the variation in the species as previous ones have been much "cleaner" in the distal half of the wing.
