0001 Micropterix tunbergella (Fabricius, 1784) - (Micropterigidae / Micropteriginae)


Notes: Locally common in woodland, feeding on pollen of oak, sycamore and other plants. The larval food is apparently unknown, probably minute particles of leaf litter or possibly fungal hyphae - larvae have been found up to 10cm deep in stony woodland soil.
UK distribution: Throughout England as far north as the Lake District and Northumberland. Rare in Scotland and absent from Ireland.
