0018 Map-winged Swift (Hepialus fusconebulosa) (DeGeer, 1778) - (Hepialidae / Hepialinae)

Notes: Very local amongst bracken. On the mainland, the strongholds are Crab Wood vc11 and Pamber Forest vc12, but there is no recent record from the Isle of Wight. The larva feeds in the rhizomes of bracken, with the imago flying at dusk during mid summer.
UK distribution: Local throughout Great Britain and Ireland, apparently absent from the Isles of Scilly and Channel Islands.
