Notes: Nationally rare, southern England, with records as far north as Yorkshire, predominantly coastal. Wingspan male 25-30mm, female 41-46mm. Flies at dusk; July to August and late September. Frequents reed-beds. Larva feeds within stems of Common Reed and Reed Sweet-grass, cutting part of a leaf to use as a raft to float to a new foodplant.
