Notes: Common, throughout the British Isles. Wingspan 33-40mm. Nocturnal; August to September. Frequents open woodland, hedgerows, heathland, moorland, scrub and gardens. Larva April to June, having over-wintered as an egg. Larva feeds on Silver Birch, Downy Birch, Hawthorn, Blackthorn, Bilberry and Heather.
