Notes: Common, England, spreading into Scotland. Wingspan male 30-34mm, female 34-41mm. Nocturnal; June to August. Frequents heaths, open areas, gardens and open woodland. Larva April to June, having over-wintered as an egg. Larva feeds on v arious broadleaved trees and shrubs, Hawthorn, Blackthorn, Wild Plum, Apple, Wild Cherry and Ornamental Cherry, living and feeding communally in a silken web.
