Notes: Common, England. Wingspan male 58-74mm, female 72-90mm. Females nocturnal, males fly during the day; July to August. Frequents woodland edges, hedgerows, downland, fens, sand-dunes, sand-hills and sea cliffs. Larva August to June. Lar va feeds on Bramble, Blackthorn, Hawthorn, Hazel and Sea Buckthorn.
