Notes: Common, throughout the British Isles. Wingspan male 48-58mm, female 58-72mm. Females nocturnal, males fly in the afternoon; May to July and September. Frequents heathland, moorland, downland, damp meadows, sand-dunes, sand-hills and o pen woodland. Larva June to April.
