Notes: Common, throughout the British Isles. Wingspan 35-40mm. Nocturnal, may fly during the day; mid-June to August and September to October, final (partial) generation in the south only. Frequents heathland, moorland, open woodland, scrub, shingle beaches, gravel pits, roadside verges and embankments. Larva July to early June. Larva feeds on Gorse, Broom and Petty Whin.
