Notes: Common, throughout the British Isles. Wingspan 50-64mm. Nocturnal, may fly during the day; late June to August. Frequents woodland, scrubby heathland, hedgerows, gardens, parkland and parks. Larva July to June. Larva feeds on Downy Birch, Silver Birch, Hazel and Alder.
