Notes: Common, throughout the British Isles. Wingspan 40-44mm. Nocturnal; October to November. Frequents open woodland, woodland rides, birch woodland, gardens and scrub. Larva late April to June, having over-wintered as an egg. Larva feeds on Silver Birch, Downy Birch, Alder and Heather.
