Notes: Local, throughout the British Isles. Wingspan 32-38mm. Nocturnal; May to June. Frequents ancient woodland, broad-leaved woodland and limestone pavements. Larva mid-June to mid-August, over-wintering as a pupa. Larva feeds on Hazel, Downy Birch, Silver Birch, Sallow and Hawthorn.
