Notes: Local, southern England, predominantly coastal. Wingspan 50-66mm. Nocturnal, may fly during the day; late May to early July. Frequents clifftops, undercliffs, salt-marshes, sand-dunes, sand-hills, downland, roadside verges, heathla nd and open woodland. Larva July to early May. Larva feeds on White Dead Nettle, Black Horehound, Ragwort and Common Cow-wheat.
