2283 Dark Dagger (Acronicta tridens) ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775) - (Noctuidae / Acronictinae)


Notes: Common, England, spreading into Scotland. Wingspan 35-43mm. Nocturnal; mid-May to July and mid-August to mid-September, final (partial) generation in the south only. Frequents woodland, fens, gardens and a wide range of other habitats . Larva July to August and September to October, over-wintering as a pupa. Larva feeds on Wild Rose, Cultivated Rose, Hawthorn, Blackthorn, Goat Willow and various broadleaved trees and shrubs.
