Notes:
Nationally scarce (Nb) on dry pastures and downland throughout most of the British Isles. In Hampshire very local and uncommon on downland and in boggy areas where the foodplants are found, but far from annual in occurrence. Recorded on the Isle of Wight in 1850 and 1933, but not since. Wingspan 10-14 mm. Similar to N. fasciella, but with indistinct brownish media fascia. Larva feeds within flowerheads of Devil's-bit Scabious and Small Scabious, subsequently feeding on the leaves, living within a movable case.
