Nationally scarce, in parts of southern England and Wales, mainly on the coast, perhaps originating from ferns inported from the far east and spreading through the trade in ferns. with violet tinge but has white tornal spot. Larva mines fronds of ferns such as Soft Shield-fern and Male Fern, subsequently living within a movable case.
