Recorded infrequently through accidental importation in produce from Asia. Found in 1878 in a shipment of buffalo horns from Singapore, and in Glasgow in ca. 1946, possibly in a cargo of horn from India or Sri Lanka. Larva feeds on hooves and horns of dead animals and discarded horns. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date.
