Local in open woodland, especially of oak, throughout Britain and southern Ireland. Fairly widespread in southern Hampshire and perhaps under-recorded in northern Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 8-10 mm. The larval workings more easily found than the adult, which closely resembles A. spinosella, and which can often only be reliably separated by dissection of genitalia, although A. glaucinella is slightly smaller and has different habitat requirements. Larva mines bark of Oak.
