Notes:
Local on heathland, moorland and in gardens throughout much of Britain, as far north as west Ross; rare in Ireland. In Hampshire virtually restricted to heaths in the New Forest and the north-east of the county. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 6-8 mm. Significantly smaller than other Coleophora, the small size renders this species unmistakable within the genus, but this may only be evident when comparing mounted specimens against a reference collection. Larva mines leaves of Heather and Bell Heather, living within a movable case.
