Nationally scarce (Na) in dry sandy areas, calcareous grassland and on shingle beaches in England, south-east of a line from Gibraltar Point to Portland Bill. Added to the Hampshire list in June 2016 when two individuals were examined after light trapping on the Portsdown MCSU estate. Larval cases were subsequently found to be relatively easy to find on Portsdown Hill in 2024, and the species is obviously well established here. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 15-21 mm. Larva mines leaves of Viper's-bugloss, living and feeding within a movable case; case length 12 mm.
