Vulnerable (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) in the upper reaches of salt-marshes on the coast of south-eastern England, first discovered in Britain in Kent in 1981. In Hampshire first noted in 1996 when many cases were found in suitable habitat on Hayling Island, since when has been found to be well-established in the area. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 10-11 mm. Larva feeds on seeds of Annual Sea-blight, living within a movable case; case length 5 mm.
