Nationally scarce (Nb) by ponds, lakes and slow-moving streams throughout much of England and Wales. In Hampshire recorded only from a few sites in the west of the county, and in recent years only from Chandlers Ford, West Park and Mortimer. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight since 1900. Wingspan 9-12 mm. The sharply angulate median fascia edged with dark ground colour distally characterises this species (MBGBI Vol 3). Larva mines leaves of Reed Sweet-grass.
