0598a Elachista eskoi Kyrki & Karvonen, 1985 - (Elachistidae / Elachistinae)

 

Notes: Vulnerable (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) on damp acid grassland in Scotland, where first found at Gordon Moss, Berwickshire and Auchencorth Moss, Midlothian in June 1956 and known from only six sites in total. Unlikely to be recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan male 11-14 mm, female 10-12.5 mm. Main confusion species are E. atricomella and especially E. alpinella, but with characteristic greyish appearance. Flies in early morning and late evening sunshine. Larva undescribed.
