Notes:
Local in woodland throughout much of southern Britain. In Hampshire remains a rare species, with a scattering of records in the south, and a single record in north Hampshire. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 18-20 mm. The main confusion species are P. flavifrontella, which appears earlier in the year, has the abdomen coloured ochreous dorsally, and is generally slightly larger, but from which reliably separated only by dissection of the genitalia; and P. subochreella which also appears earlier, but has a usually unmarked forewing and a contrastingly darker hindwing (MBGBI Vol 4 part 1). Larva feeds on Bilberry, living within a movable case; case length 10-12 mm.
