Notes:
Nationally scarce (Na) in brackish marshes, saltmarshes and ditches on the coast of south-eastern England, from Hampshire to Suffolk. In Hampshire apparently restricted to the coastal strip east of Southampton, from Fareham to Hayling Island. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 8-9 mm. Main confusion species is M. hornigi, which has the forewing brownish fuscous and obscure paler annulations on the tibia of the hindleg (MBGBI Vol 4 part 2). Larva mines leaves of Sea Club-rush.
