0761a Cotoneaster Webworm (Athrips rancidella) (Herrich-Schäffer, 1854) - (Gelechiidae / Gelechiinae)

 

Notes: Vulnerable (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) in parks and gardens in Kent and Surrey. First recorded in Britain on 7 July 1971 at West Wickham, Kent. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 11-12 mm. Larva feeds on Cotoneaster horizontalis, living within a silken tube or tent, over-wintering as an egg or small larva.
