Rare (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) in woodland and hedgerows in parts of north-western England, Wales and northern Scotland. Unlikely to be recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 9.5-11.5 mm. The most likely confusion species are C. proxima, which see for differences, and C. alsinella, from which only reliable separated by dissection of the genitalia. Larva mines leaves of Lesser Stitchwort, Sticky Mouse-ear and Field Mouse-ear, subsequently living within a spinning.
