Notes: Local on waste ground, in woodland edges and hedgerows throughout much of England and Wales. In Hampshire infrequently recorded and nowhere common, but has been recorded several times from Southsea. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 14-17 mm. Distinguished from A. francillana by the broader and less oblique median and postmedian fasciae of the forewing [Bradley]. Larva feeds within stems of Hemlock.
