Nationally scarce (Na) on dry pastures, waste ground and sand-dunes in parts of southern England. In Hampshire principally known from the Chilbolton area, where D W H Ffennell reported it to be common (pre-mid 1970s) and it was still present in the early 1980s. Subsequent reports have come from scattered localities elsewhere in the centre of the county. On the Isle of Wight list only on the basis of being included in Fassnidge's list
teste Huggins from the Yarmouth area, which would have been in the 1920s or earlier. Wingspan 9-13 mm. Usually smaller than
C. implicitana, lacking the pink flush to the forewing and further distinguished by the relatively broad median fascia and the barred cilia [Bradley]. Larva feeds on flowers of Blue Fleabane, over-wintering in a cocoon.
