Local in waste ground, open areas, sand-dunes and cliffs throughout much of the British Isles. In Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight local amongst Colt's-foot growing on waste ground and along the open, sunny banks of rivers, but considerably less common in recent years. Wingspan 15-20 mm. Similar to E. scutulana but distinguished by the lighter, olivaceous coloration of the forewing [Bradley]. Larva feeds within roots of Colt's-foot, subsequently feeding on the flower stems.
