Notes:
Nationally scarce (Nb) in dry pastures, gardens, orchards, parks and waste ground throughout much of southern Britain, predominantly coastal in the north of its range. In southern Hampshire very local in a narrow band from Chandlers Ford to Southsea. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 13-16 mm. Differs from D. alpinana by the comparatively narrow medio-dorsal blotch of the forewing and the uniformly dark fuscous hindwing; the male of D. flavidorsana is further distinguished by the shorter costal fold which does not extend to the median fascia on the forewing [Bradley]. Larva feeds within roots of Tansy.
