Hantsmoths

Suspected rare immigrant, or perhaps accidentally imported in produce, from southern Africa. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 24-28 mm. Most likely to be confused with, but larger than, C. pascuella from which distinguished by the presence of a narrow white line running the whole length of the costa, by the absence of a dividing line through the median longitudinal streak, by the presence of a dorsal notch or hook half-way along the median streak, and by the broadly white dorsum [Goater]. No evidence of breeding in the UK.
