Occurrence in the British Isles unconfirmed. This eastern European species is included on the British list on the basis of a single specimen said to have been taken 'many years ago' on salterns at Portsmouth. Wingspan 20-26 mm. A rather dull, poorly-marked species which rather resembles Trachycera advenella, but characterised by the conspicuous transverse band of raised dark scales [Goater]. Larva feeds on Birch, no evidence of breeding in the UK.
