Local in saltmarshes throughout much of southern and eastern England, where exclusively coastal. In Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight locally abundant in saltmarshes along the southern coast of the county and northern coast of the Island. Wingspan 24-30 mm. Like the other Agdistis species, the fore- and hind-wings are not divided and the wings are held forward with front of body raised on long forelegs. Resembles A. meridionalis but darker and more coarsely speckled. Larva feeds on Common Sea-lavender.
