1590a Indian Red Admiral (Vanessa indica) (Herbst, 1894) - (Nymphalidae / Nymphalinae)

 

Notes: Common within restricted range, on the Canary Islands, in laurel forest, parks and gardens; 0-1500 m. Recorded once in Britain, near Dunchurch in Warwickshire in 1973. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 54-60 mm. Larva feeds on Stinging Nettle and Small Nettle.
