1665a Jersey Emerald (Gorse Emerald) (Pseudoterpna coronillaria) (Hübner, 1796) - (Geometridae / Geometrinae)

 

Status: Channel Islands only
Notes: Local in open areas and on golf courses on Jersey, where first recorded in August 2000, known previously from France and southern Europe. Unlikely to be recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 35-41 mm. Similar to Grass Emerald P. pruinata but grey even when fresh with postmedian and antemedian fasciae dark brown. Larva feeds on Dyer's Greenweed, Gorse and Broom.
