2304 Orache Moth (Trachea atriplicis) (Linnaeus, 1758) - (Noctuidae / Amphipyrinae)

 

Status: Rare migrant
Notes: Rare immigrant, the Channel Islands and northern Europe, appearing as a migrant on the south coast of Britain. Wingspan 39-52mm. Nocturnal; June to early July, migrants often appearing later than this. Frequents fens, damp meadows, marshes, river-banks and damp areas. Larva July to September, over-wintering as a pupa, no evidence of breeding in the UK. Larva feeds on Orache, Goosefoot and Knotgrass.
