2413a Shining Marbled (Pseudeustrotia candidula) ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775) - (Noctuidae / Acontiinae)

Status: Vagrant/Accidental
Notes: Recorded infrequently through accidental importation in soil or soft fruit plants. Recorded only once in Britain, at Bodenham, Herefordshire on 29 June 2006. The circumstance of this record, in an area in which farming practices include regular importation of plants and topsoil, casts some doubts over the origin of the species. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 22-25 mm. Fairly unmistakable. Larva feeds on various grasses and herbaceous plants, no evidence of breeding in the UK.
