Common throughout England and Wales, extending to the Scottish Highlands where it is scarce; in Ireland it is widespread in the west and is likely to be found throughout the country. Widespread and common in Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 5-6 mm. Larva mines leaves of Beech, subsequently feeding in the fallen leaves, over-wintering as a pupa. Occupied mines are common in June and July and again in September and October. The mines are described in the following link: leafmines.co.uk .
