Nationally scarce (Na) in orchards, woodland and gardens in parts of Sussex, Surrey, Worcestershire and Herefordshire. In Hampshire recorded just once as a vacated mine on Pear at Portsmouth in October 1985. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 4.2-5.2 mm. Adults difficult to distinguish from other Stigmella species, and more frequently recorded in the larval stage, when mines are relatively easy to find where they are present. Larva mines leaves of Pear, over-wintering as a pupa. The mines are described in the following link:
