Wingspan 22-33 mm. Day-flying, this species is distinguished by the strongly haired thorax and abdomen, the thinly scaled wings and translucent coloration, the montane habitat is also a useful guide to its identification (MBGBI Vol 2). Larva feeds on Crowberry and Bilberry, over-wintering at least once.
