Endangered (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) in dry open areas in parts of Cornwall. Unlikely to be recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan male 7-12 mm, female wingless. The adult moths are seen occasionally, but most records are of larval cases. Larva feeds on lichens growing on rocks and fence posts, living within a movable case.
