Vulnerable (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) in and around buildings throughout Britain and Ireland. Recorded on the Isle of Wight at Freshwater some time before 1975, but not recorded in Hampshire to date. Wingspan 8-17 mm. Similar to both T. lanella, known only from a wool warehouse in Liverpool in 1922, and T. murariella, another rare and seldom recorded adventive. Larva feeds on fur, feathers and dead insects.
