Endangered (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) on moorland, hillsides and open woodland. Recorded in Britain from north-eastern Yorkshire, Co. Durham and the Aviemore district, and in Ireland from Ballyeighter Wood and Newtown Castle in the Burren district of Co. Clare, and from Ballynahinch, Co. Galway. Unlikely to be recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 6-7 mm. Adults easily overlooked, and not particularly common at light, and more frequently recorded in the larval stage, when mines are relatively easy to find where they are present. Larva mines leaves of Bitter Vetchling, over-wintering as a pupa.
