Vulnerable (proposed as a future Red Data Book species). Outdoors in the British Isles only on the Isles of Scilly, where it can be numerous; elsewhere more likely to be found in cellars, especially those used to store wine. In Hampshire the first record was of one indoors at Emsworth in 2002. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 8-12 mm. Larva feeds on decaying vegetable matter such as garden cuttings and various fungi, especially those associated with wine-cellars.
