Local in open woodland throughout much of southern England, with records north to Yorkshire; also in northern Scotland. In Hampshire fairly common, although apparently absent, or under-recorded, east of Winchester and on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 12-14 mm. Larva mines leaves of Small-leaved Lime and Birch, subsequently living within a leaf-roll, over-wintering as a pupa.
