Nationally scarce (Nb) in grassland, open woodland and damp meadows throughout much of the British Isles. In Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight there are very few recent records, and between 1981 and 2009 the species was recorded on just three occasions: at Leckford in 2003 and 2009, and on the Isle of Wight in 2003. Wingspan 10-11 mm. Larva feeds within seedheads of Hogweed and Wild Angelica, over-wintering as a pupa.
